Redwood City, CA started as a port for the transportation of lumber and other materials. Today, the Port of Redwood City is still functioning as the only deep water port on San Francisco Bay south of San Francisco.
Set up as a California Charter City, Redwood City today is home to several of the largest software companies around, including Oracle and Electronic Arts. Redwood City is also famous for its’ climate, as attested to in their city motto: “Climate Best By Government Test”.
And one little known fact about the city is that the courtroom scenes from the movie Mrs. Doubtfire were filmed at the Redwood City Courthouse.
