Elevated San Francisco is proud to serve the community and has thoughtfully participated in choosing Visitacion Valley organizations to give back to since 2018. It is our goal to build partnerships within our community to encourage positive change and growth that will last a lifetime.
This year we have built a Community Benefits Committee that will help find non-profit organizations for Elevated San Francisco to present to the community. The goal is to create awareness and get connected with those who have been serving our Visitacion Valley/SF Area. Below are the first two candidates to be presented to YOU the community to vote on who will receive the first donation for 2021!
U.T.O.P.I.A.
Our mission is to provide sacred spaces to strengthen the minds and bodies of QTPI’s, Queer and Trans-Pacific Islanders, in the San Francisco and Bay Area Region through community organizing, political engagement, and cultural stewardship. U.T.O.P.I.A. celebrates QTPI’s in our navigation of self-determination and empowerment.
We recognize the intersections of gender and sexuality with race, ethnicity, class, ability, age, culture, nationality, immigration status, and all social systems. We work to build and bridge communities that welcome and affirm people to be their whole selves, honoring their multiple identities and life experiences. We work to fight systems of oppression that marginalize individuals and communities based on social identities.
J&J Community Resource Center
J&J Community Resource Center has been in the Visitacion Valley community for over 30 years. J&J, Ruth Jackson and Family, have sponsored, coordinated and hosted the Annual Family Day, and will continue the tradition for the 23rd year this upcoming June 5th. This event began in 1998 when an award was given by San Francisco’s Mayor Willie Brown Jr. and proclaimed the day as “Ruth Jackson’s Family Day.” During this celebration they host a community parade, children’s activities, a car show, amusement rides, performances, food, raffle resources, and FUN. Specifically, last year during this pandemic, J&J provided PPE (5,000 masks,1,500 individual hand sanitizers, gloves and informational literature), COVID-19 testing (147 completed on site), food/grocery distribution to address the food insecurities (2,400 bags of groceries and 700 meals), Professional Senior Portraits (complete with cap/gown). This annual event brings hundreds of families together from every multi-racial background, regardless of turf issues. Each year this celebration commemorates the unselfish acts of the community services that support the youth and families of the Visitacion Valley Community.
Our voting will be open to the public from March 5th to May 15th. You may cast your vote in-person, during business hours, at 2442 Bayshore Blvd San Francisco, CA 94134 (no purchase necessary) or print out the PDF version of the ballot below and drop off with our team at the facade of our store (no-entry required for this option). Each ballot needs to be completed with a first and last name as well as a zipcode to be considered valid. We thank you all for participating and look forward to seeing who will take the first prize of the 2021 year!
